How do i get the steering wheel off my ph1 172?

Im trying to remove the lower dash, which is proving to be a total wanker.

oh my god, steering wheel off...

Lower dash is now out. As painful as it was. And now i get to play the replace the heater vent bit. which looks to be almost as fun!
