HELP please box light with coil underneath?

My little brother has just bought an 02 plate 1.2 expression and a light has came on, on the dash, it is a box shape with a zig zag through it with a coil underneath. He went to start it the other day and would not start then started out the blue, then today went to accelerate and no revs? then again worked out the blue, anyone any idea what could be wrong and what this light means.

I would say the black box at the back of the engine block is rubbing on the wiring underneath and thus causing your problems.

if you dont know where the box is, it is central and behind the engine and mine just pulls off straight upwards
