Headlamp washer on 172, help needed

I was cleaning the car on Sunday when i noticed something was missing on the 172.

Without sounding to much of a complete idiot, on the drivers side headlamp washer the actual rounded head is missing. It looks like it has fallen out as there is not sign of tampering, plus nobody can get to it when it is parked up.

So does anyone know what the part is, and if it would be covered under the warrenty?

Doubt if its covered, but its a fairly cheap part. Just buy it from Renault and pop the little ball back in, perhaps with a bit of glue round it.... This is a fairly common fault.

i was told not covered..its a grey area apparently, they have covered it in the past but shouldnt.

to take it in and have it fixed is around £70. to buy the washer ball and fit it yourself is around £7.

hum thats a new one as it is a faulty part does it say in the warranty docs does it say washer balls not covered

Does it no longer function as it should? Yes.

Is car under warranty? Yes.

Warranty job. :)

my cars still under warranty but they refused to do it. i had to take the car to the dealers where i bought it and it gets serviced (and where they have all the details fo the car id imagine) for them to check whether its valid or not.

i was to leave it with them to check (hmmm).... i was imagining theyd find out it wasnt covered and id come back to the car to find it all fixed and a nice bill for £70.

it was simpler to pay £7 and do it myself. when i bought the part i argued whether it should be covered under warranty and why it was so much trouble for them to check if it was, and i was told its one of things...they have covered it in the past but it is no longer replaced under warranty.

but thats just one dealership. others may vary and actually do it for you. like si says..its faulty and the car still has a warranty so youd expect them to fix it for freeeeee!!

It does not work, just trickles water really and not that effective at all.

Yeah there is over 18 months warrenty left on the damn thing, problem after problem with this damn car.

How come Renault have so many Grey Areas, and i could argue the fact that if the washer ball is not stated in the warrenty documents, that they have to cover it.

But if they will not cover and will pay out, then £7 aint bad, but i aint paying £70.

its well worth a try to get it sorted under warranty, id give them a ring or take it in and ask if it can be fixed.

as for the grey areas i have no idea. dealerships seem to vary so you may get lucky!! :)

Just phoned and it is covered as it is under two year old and done less then 18k miles.

Plus they probably have a warning come up on the system when i phone, cos when they say something is not covered, i demand to speak to the main manager, and report to RUK.

Cheers for you help
