Hazard lights comming on

  clio 172, pulsar, evo
Hey guys ive done a few searches but cant find a full answer, just wondering if anyone can help.

The car was driving fine a week ago and has sat undriven this last week due to the snow. on the day of the thaw about midday my hazards just started going off (without the clicking sound) i went out to investigate and ended up just disconnecting the battery.
I know the hazard light switch is a common fault but does this sound right? would it just suddenly come on connecting the circuit? when i put the keys in the clicking noise starts but i cant for the life of me get the lights off (unless i remove the fuse. Is the relay a likely cause? what else can i check? think ill give the switch a quick look and a wd40 bath.
hope someone can help as its my sisters car and shes having to drive my evo

lol @ sister in evo!

Take the switch out and disconnect it, they should then stop flashing.

If they still flash, i would be suspicious of UCH! Control unit above passenger's feet!

Peachy! ill give that all a go 2moro and see how i get on
I hope it is the switch... but is funny how it just decided to connect the circuit for no reason? I could understand it better the otherway round- failing to connect the circuit. Ahh well. Thanks for the quick response mate ;)
My sister uses me like a garage ive done loads of work on her car and she seems to think i owe it to her as i sold her the car in the first place...
