Grrr... theres an annoying squeak!!!

  Clio 172 Mk2

Well... having a 172 and putting up with squeaks & rattles is the norm.

But... there is one squeak that is REALLY annoying me!

Its in the drivers seat. When I take a less than gentle bend... and my weight puts force on the seat, I hear it! Its like a squeaky door... making me mad

Now... was wondering if anyone else has had this sort of problem and what they have done about it. Ive tried to drive with the stereo on max... it helps to mask the squeak.. and it makes me more deaf day by day!!!

Before I go completely deaf... can anyone gimme advice??

Also.. any other common squeaks/rattles that have been resolved by people here?

PS.. Am also interested in getting Eibach Pro springs fitted onto my car to improve the handling... but do they make the ride more unsettled/fidgety... coz then Id have to wear earplugs to block out even more rattles!! :p

Do you not have warranty? Take it to the dealers.

People have had loads of problems with the seat runners, Id start there to find the fault.

Mine is still in warranty, but because its been modded they prob wont touch it!
They have to prove that the mods you have done have caused the fault.

I suppose that if the car has had suspension mods (which in turn may alter the ride characteristics) they may argue that this may have forced some fittings to work loose prematurely and cause rattles!

Yes, if you change your wheels and you seat rattles, this should still be covered as there is no direct link between the two. However if your gearbox goes they could argue that bigger wheels put extra strain on the gearbox therefore your fault.
