Getting a cage

After reading about that terrible crash at the Nurburgring - it's kickstarted me into thinking about getting a cage sorted for the Clio.

I've barely driven it the last few months, but I'll be coming into some money at some point soon and have a list of things that I want to do for it.


The car has fixed-back bucket seats and harnesses, stripped rear - and I'm well aware of all the roof bending issues in the event of a roll.

What are my best options with regards to brand? OMP maybe? Bolt in or weld in? And how much have people had it all sorted for including padding?

Que the dont waste money on a clio/ invest your money/buy a better car/ use it for a house deposit crew. Imo If the car is going to be a car regually used on track I would personally have a welded in roll cage. Omp is certainly a good make but as long as it is (fia?) approved it will be fine.

Go for something MSA/FIA approved, that way you know it will be up to the job and been designed properly. Bolt-in cages are easy to install and generally cheaper to buy and fit. Weld-in cages are more serious but will also help stiffen the car as they can be welded to the pillars and strut tops.

Omp, Custom cages, caged are all good well know manufactures.

A full multipoint cage going to the strut tops and bracing will be around £1500.

Well I love the car and love fixed seats and don't really fancy getting rid of either - But just don't want to compromise safety...
