Gearbox Selector Rod Question

  clio diesel
The plastic bush that hold the ball end of the selector rod fell out today. It left me with a loose gear lever.

I pushed it back in and realised the circlip must have come out. I have replaced the circlip.

Is there a reason for this happening? I have never heard of this before and certainly wasnt aware it could come out so easily.

I have recently fitted a yanoo stiff shift and am hoping that this isnt related.

Do you mean the small plastic part that is at the gearbox end, it sits in the gearbox housing, fixed by a small circlip?

If so this is a very common part to wear and is only a few pounds from Renault.
