  2004 Clio Cup 172
how much and what oil does the cup gearbox take?
its up on really high stands at the mo just fiddling with the g/box, so if i fill it till it over flows it wont be right so if anyone knows and could tell me that would be great!

i got some s**t stuff, when its cold it good cos 3rd and 4th don't crunch when it warms up 3rd and 4th gear crunch. i think maybe mines too thin. i got some cheap arse motul stuff or something form motor parts direct.

its hard to fill up, put lots of paper down when you fill up, and its hard to get to the fill hole, use the one at the front of the engine

Really don't get how people find this hard to do, empty the old stuff, then stuff a funnel in a length of hose pipe then fill through the fill hole till it starts to come out.

Changed mine the other day. I used 75/90 semi synthetic.
The gear changes do seem smoother now, but i could just be imagining it!
Capacity is 3.1 litres.

More likly its the fact its not worn as such.

75/90 should be thicker when cold so stiffer but being as its being compaired to old worn gearbox oil then its not a fair comparison.

I thought 75/90 was slightly thinner when cold (lower first number) but retained its viscosity better when warm (higher second number).
So being better all round protection.
