floor thickness?

hi,
i'm mounting some Schroth harnesses to my car and need to drill a hole in the 'transmission tunnel'.
how long a bolt will i need to get trough but not stick out to much?

Use a high tensile bolt and and decent sized backing plate. Refer to MSA blue book regs for the best size of plate.

If the bolt is too long cut it so it doesnt hit anything.
