Fitting a 6.5" speaker in the front door ???

Hi I just bought a 03 clio 172 and i'm hoping to replace the door speakers with my 6.5" ones. I read that pretty much everyone fits 13cm speakers as they fit straight in, but i dont want to buy new speakers. Has anyone ever fitted 17 cm speakers in the front doors? is it possible and what needs done?

Yea its been done a few times.

Door card needs cutting where original speaker hole is and MDF speaker ring mount screwed to door.

Fairly easy to do.

165mm ones JUST fitted into mine... so good luck but I'm sure its possible.

Thanks for response, when you use the MDF brackets how thick is the wood you would use? i have ones on my other car just now and they're about 10mm.
