Engine swapping

  clio 172
Hi, sadly over xmas i smashed up my black 02 clio 172 :( didnt fancy goin through insurance n loosing my no claims etc .. sooo i have bought a cheap, in need of TLC flame red 172 of the same year... I am going to take the engine/gearbox out of the black one as its only done 60,000 full renault service history belts done ect .. and put it in the flamer.

Whats the best way to go out about this ? Just unplug all the sensors, take it out n replug in the new car or do i swap the whole lot ecu and everything??

cheers

no ecu is coded to the car, just unplug the main loom in the fuse box, lift it out as 1 unit and chuck it in, turn the key off you go

On clio 172 engine ECU is coded together with UHC inside the car and the key. So if you change any of these, all three must be recoded together or you can find someone to unlock your ecu.
The best way to pull out the engine is to unplug engine wiring in the fuse box and take it out together with engine and gearbox.
