engine fooked

aparently the sump on a clio rt (93) wont come off with the engine in place, the car was taken in for a new head gasket and the head needed skimming, but then there was no oil pressure when he assembled it back together so, a new oil pump was needed got one £23 took it down had it a day and the sump wont come off coz the chassis in places stops it from coming off. so he said he will have to take the engine out to do it, and also said that if the car has beebn driven around without good oil pressure for a while then the engine will be screwed anyway so i may as well get a new one. is this right or am i just getting f**ked up the arse!!!!!!!!!!!!!

similar problem with my Astra.

Had the head skimmed then 2 days later oil light came on... no oil pressure - oil not getting to the top pf the engine. Currently in the garage. From what the guy was telling me if its the oil pump then its cheap (few hundred), if theres a problem with the sump then its engine out and a 3 figure repair bill. Of course this is an Astra not a clio.....

id let you know what my situation is but Ive been unable to get hold of the mechanic.

dreading a huge bill.

all is good been told that i only owe him £180 at the mo for the head plus skimming, and he said hell take the engine out fit the pump and put it back in for bout £250, so nay to bad, so well pissed off, cars been trouble ever since i bought it but only the rear bumper to go on and the install then its finished.

Drop the subframe down a bit, then with any luck you should be able to get the sump down, may need a bit of wiggling.

Ive done plenty of sumps on Renos never had to take the engine out

yep bit tight but should come out. drop the subframe down a bit and lift up the engine slightly.

Just a few mate, they seem to have tailed off a bit now.

Used to be a great bonus earner, sadly I get loads of leccy faults and running problems now, and the odd service, so bonus is out the window now:(
