  clio 1.8
i no its been asked a thousand times:mad: but i've just picked up a 1.8 rt clio.would i need to change the fuel pump if i was to put a 16v lump in it, don't say don't bother please because it a 4 door and i want it to be a sleeper. i gather the engine loom, engine, gearbox, driveshafts, will need to be changed but i will put 16v brakes on and suspension as well,is there anything else i missed out for the conversion,i will hopefuly be picking up a buggered 16v body wise to transfer the stuff over, the engines head gasket has gone but i might just buy another engine.

cheers.

Single point injection cars are 55.8 liters an minute

Multipoint none 1.8 16V are 80 liters an hour

1.8 16V and Williams are 130 liters an hour

The 55.8 liter pump is in theory powerful enough to pump 185hp but in reality and for longevity stick with the pump from the doner car or bigger.

The clips you broke are the circlips there only cheap from Renault pull the old ones and and replace them.

pretty mucxh as edde says, you could run the 1.8 RT fuel pump but it wouldn't be advisable and I believe it would sturggle to provide correct fuelling in the upper rev range. Its pretty straighforward to change though on most of them, though I believe on some earlier ones you need to drop the fuel tank.

Also, you can re-use the gearbox and driveshafts from your current one, but if you are getting a donor car anyway you would really be as well to change them.
