Eibach springs, fitted: but question...

I fitted my Eibach sportline springs today,

Old springs off (no compressors needed was a god send), put the strut back into place, put the top mount on a few turns to hold it then the two lower bolts tightened up.

Then i grabbed the ratchet, put it on the top mount and began to tighten it more, only so it was hand tight, i knew i needed to wait till the wheels where on the ground before properly tightening the top nuts.

As i was doing the top mount up with the car in the air with the ratchet the spring sort of popped out... i just want to check thats ok, the strut was assembled correctly, it was obviously because the spring wasnt under any compression and i should have waited to tighten the top mount up whilst the tyres where on the floor?

Spring went back into place when i reversed the ratchet and seems to be seated fine once back off the stands and under the cars weight.

Also the sport struts dont have plastic on the bottom to seat the springs no? again.. just checking.

The spring slipped because there was no weight on them. If you had waited until the car was on the deck, you would have been fine.

Also, don't think that the top mounts have to be that tight, they don't. Once on the deck, wind them in with your hand and then just nip them up with the ratchet handle.
