Delayed throttle response - 172

Wondering if this is normal as I’ve only just noticed it or if it is a problem.

Pressing on the throttle very quickly (in neutral) I can get my foot to the floor and release before the engine responds.

Pressing on the throttle gradually, it responds fine.

Can’t remember if it’s always been like this but now I’ve noticed it I’m not sure it’s right.

I would say it’s about a second delay if stabbing at the throttle.

Thoughts? 🤨

On my old mk2, the throttle body caused a lot of problems. It would start up and run from cold fine, let you blip the throttle with no issues. But once there was some heat in the engine, it wouldn’t work and remained shut not allowing the engine to start.

In the end it turned out to be the potentiometer on the throttle body itself. Scoff at efi switched it to read from potentiometer 2 instead and it was never a problem again.

The throttle body was working fine on my original engine, and this issue only came about after it hadn’t been used for around 4-5 months while I was installing my 197/172 hybrid engine. It never got dropped either, it just decided to go faulty.

Have you tried a new throttle body?

I ve compared my throttle with a friends 172 even swapped them over thinking my electrics are the problem but same stuff unless you do have something and it s at that point that doesn throw out any codes , still works but it s not factory spec .
