insurance is still void if found out tho. its a risk and to me the gains are not worth it. i have done away with the silencer section on mine and it sounds much better wouldnt have thought its added any HP tho.
power wise every bit is worth it tho. had mine decatted a few years back, just used to give me headaches on long drives. did my head in, really boomy and droney.

ahh right i heard it sounds alot more throtilier but how much bhp you reckon you actually gain form the decat? 5-10?

  b/g 182, meg tourer
i would say about 3hp. no more than 5 on a 172/182 i bet. no chance at 10hp.

its more for the noise to be honest.

alrite not worth it 2bh. mine already sounds nice whats best way to add bhp you reckon luke? remap and big induction kit?

Mine just seems to rev a little bit easier and pulls a little better from lower rpm with the decat fitted, but as people have mentioned it does make the car pretty loud.

i think i might try it but will just wait until my cat eventually goes lol. what do you reckon is best way to add power then jonff? you had a re map or anything?

decat , remap and a pannel filter are about the only mods worth doing unless youve got a grand or 5 to go down the cams, itb, turbo or sc route.

these engines dont benefit from induction kits so a waste of money.

good to know hipwell so be best with the itg panel filter? does this jus go in the standard stock box?

not really much you can do power wise to be honest. just a remap should smooth the power out a little along with matched inlets and a decat if you must.

the only way you can get decent power from them is spending over a grand and getting cams or jms rs2 inlet. or for serious power you are looking at a lot of money for turbo, supercharger etc.

i would just get some decent tyres and brakes on there if you haven't already. then little things like a pannel filter, rs tuner, sportline springs and thats about it.

Well power wise, I've got a k-tec stealth and decat, ph-1 airbox and have an R-sport ECU fitted (Ecu with a generic map installed on it) and mine seems to go pretty well tbh.

so do you reckon the de cat is a good idea for power or more just for the sound matiee?

so the standard air box with an itg panel filter with a samco bend would that do it?:star:

Both IMO, it will make it louder though. And the car seems to rev more freely top end like Jon said.

If you can get it cheap id go for it, try it out then if you dont notice any difference someone else will buy it off you.

depends if you declare it or not, sky insurance on here have mine declared so im covered, the mod is not actually illegal but it wont pass a mot test so its not technically road legal if you get tested, if you do get road side teste (vosa who 99% time do lorrys) it will more than likely just be a producer as well to say get your car retested.

decat wise they make the car sound fantastic and i personally felt although it didn't feel faster it rev-ed easier at the topend. although it has gained a flat spot at around 3k rpm-3.5k rpm. will need a remap for most benifits.
