Cuts out regularly.

Hi guys,
My clio 1.2 cuts out quite a lot for no apparent reason. Its an R reg.
I have braught it to the garage on many occassions and they can never seem to tell me why. The battery has been changed but the car still cuts out while i am driving, i can usually start it again while i am rolling but sometimes this doesnt work. Last night it cut out about 5 times within a 1 mile drive.

The car also doesnt start sometimes, i can hear the car turning over, but it wont fire up. But then i could try later that day and it will be fine????? The other day it cut out at a set of traffic lights. I had to push it to the roadside, then rolled down the hill and tried to bump start it, which didnt work. I then sat at the roadside for an hour waiting for a lift whislt still trying to start the car. The lift arrived, i tried the car one last time to see if it would start AND IT DID...first time no probs....

Any ideas what could be wrong with it? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Jay

I posted a similar query earlier.

I have just bought a 1.2 Clio Sport and the day after I got it it started cutting out on me! A warning light did appear though before it was happening and I looked it up and it said Electrical fault, I took it back to the garage I got it from cos it was still covered under warranty and they said the same that they couldnt find any recorded fault on the engine. I demanded they keep it and sort it out but as yet I still dont know the outcome.

The mechanic did say it could be something to do with a plastic covering rubbing on some wires (not sure what it was), if I find out more Ill let you know.

Thanks Laura...
i dont get any warning light BEFORE it happens....but when it does happen a few warning lights all come on at once! its doing my nut in not knowing if im actually going to arrive at my destination lol.

Ok check the electrical bracket at the back of the engine ontop of the ECU it can wear the wires

Check your fuses and relays

Check your coil pack

Does your imobilier wanring light go off?

Mace test or even replace your coolant temp sensor. From what you describe (cutting out/non-start) its that
