circlip in gear box

loss drive to front wheels,spedo work's, all shaft's in place, have been told by a few people on here that there is a sircip, behind passenger side drive boot, that may cause this problem,. does any one kno if it can be fixed with out removing gear box, or has any one else had this probel and what did it cost you yo fix, thanks liam

you can put a new circlip in, they are not that expensive, but they are like pringles

some people weld them in. trouble is, once the groove is worn, they keep popping (nice pringles reference ) Probably worth trying welding it in place before you have give in to removing and changing the box.

wouldn't bother welding it, never had a problem with them popping either weirdly

I had one welded into a box I had....didnt seem to do much. whatever happened it just ripped the welds clean off and the circlip still came out

yeah, odd how it helps some and not others. dan.wil popped one on the line at pod, re-fitted the clip, and it popped again 1 meter later . He took it home, welded it, and it's still going months later. That's a turbo'd valver too

Yeah he mentioned that last time I spoke to him, guess there are other factors too though, quality of the weld, age of the box blah blah. Thankfully I was lucky enough to get a JB3 with a bolt in diff from another valver I bought, so hopefully wont have the same issue!

Thank god I didnt have to buy it though, I paid quite a bit less for the whole car than the invoice the previous owner paid for the box brand new from Renault :dapprove: (sorry BRUN, lol)
