Center Section [To] Cat - Joint Problems...

had the car tracked at tweeks the other day... he showed me the underneath the car just got a quick question...

i had the center section changed to a magnex one without a center silencer... so basically a pipe... but the joint between the pipe and the cat is f**ked, its lose and wobbles all over the place... the guy at tweeks said the thread has stripped off the clamp and it cant be tightened any more so the clamp will have to be replaced?

so if i jack the car up, put some stands under it and get the clamp off, can i just put a new clamp on? do i not need to replace anything else? gaskets or any of that?

cheers.

No, you might want to just smear a small amount of paste on each side of the joint before clamping it back up. Other than that just bolt its straight back on!
Check the rubbers for wear as knackered ones cause loads of excessive moevment which will eventually knacker your system.....

Has

  RS 182 - Black Gold
New clamp from Renault

Some Exhaust Paste

Then do as you have mentioned. Get a nice seal of exhaust paste, put some in the clamp also to give it a nice seal when you tighten it up.

so even just a standard exhaust clamp from halfrauds as long as its the right size? or does it have to be reno?

Has

  RS 182 - Black Gold
Its just a round exhaust clamp.

Most places sell them. Nothing special about them, just need the right size for the exhaust.

i have a brand new 1" 3/4 here hopefully its the right size

oh and another thing lol... say i tighten it round, and theres the excess thread pointing down from it being tightened, safe to shorten it with a hacksaw...? because i can see it catching on the floor on my car....?
