Car Idling a little too cold?

Hey guys,

Just picked up my black ph1 172 today. however after driving it around for a good half an hour the temperature was only sitting just over a 3rd of the way up on the dial. is this normal? or could it be a fault?

N it's not normal mate. Should be bang on centre after 5mins and should stay there. Could be you've got a faulty temp sender or your thermostat is stuck open.

As above, faulty stat or CTS but it could also just be that the gauge needs callibrating as i've seen a few of these now that never reach the half way point.

Key in ignition
Press and hold the wiper stalk button
Now turn the ignition on
Watch the 'sweep' of the guage - does it manage to 'sweep' the full top to bottom range or does it only make it 3/4's of hte way?
