Cambelt

  Black Ph2 172
Hi guys,

I have a 2003 172 which I bought last October. Can't find out whether cambelt has been done (the car had a full renault service history).

Is there any ways to find out. Also, how much does a cambelt cost - where is the cheapest place to buy one??

Thanks

5 years...or 72k so it should have been done...

(the dealers will have it on the computer surely, if its renault history..)

did you not get any paperwork with it? service sheets etc?
does it say in your service book, on the belts page??

i traded in my 182..

83k 04 plate...

cambelt hadnt been done...

just made it..

Cheers for your response mate, I am really hoping it has been done. Can't afford to pay for cambelt!

Are there any warning signs when your belt is on way out?

No warning signs, it will just go one day and f**k the engine. If you can't be 100% sure it's already been done, then you've got to get it done. £400 for the job or risk a possible engine rebuild.

To be honest I've no idea what I'm talking about. Last time I got a cambelt changed it cost about £100, but that was 10 years ago on a Rover 200.

£500ish for cambelt + service is about right.
