Brake Problem

  Renault Clio 1.5dci
I was on my way to uni today when someone decided to slam on their brakes going through a green light. I naturally slammed on but my car started to judder alot and seemed to skid before it came to a halt (1 metre behind the car in front) phew...

I was going about 35-40 mph but i cant help thinking that somethings up? I recently had the front brake pads changed, less than 500 miles ago and am getting a screeching noise, which i believe is coming from the pads? Rear drum brakes haven't been changed since car was bought, 65k ago.

I've just checked the brake fluid resevoir and it seems to be overfilled. Was that affecting it?

Whats the easiest way to get excess fluid out of the resevoir? What could the problem be?

Thanks for any advice

rear drums. change them. my cylinders seized up (2002 plate) about 2 months ago.

ps, did the pedal judder, or the whole car?

I'd imagien you've got some copy cat parts if so then maybe the pads are rattling round I've found some compnaies sell pads which are to small and rattle like this.
But check your rear drums for the problem th material can break away from the shoe causing problem on some of them.

Thanks for the replies. Will check the rear drums tomorrow.

ps. the judder was felt through the whole car, not just pedal. I heard that the judder in the pedal would probably be the ABS?
