Brain picking?? Don't understand!

  182
Today I took my 182 to have its 24k service at Crawley Down Group in Sussex. Told me that i needed new front pads and discs, which i knew about as i purchased Brembo discs and greenstuff pads from Yozzasport which i will fit over weekend, so that was all fine!

The thing they told me that i was really surprised about was that i needed new rear pads even though i fitted Mintex extreme approximately 6 months ago and have only covered 6k miles, with no track days!

Don't understand how i have pretty much gone through 2 sets of pads on rear compared to just 1 set on the front????
They said that on both the front and rear its the inside pad that has majority of the wear (70%). Didn't get new ones fitted, as were charging a small fortune!

Has anybody else come across this before as am a little bemused???

Have you had a look at the actual rear pads themselves ??

Usually it's a case of them trying it on with you.

I got told at my 24k service that I needed new pads. Renault wanted a small fortune off me too so I bought some and asked my bf to fit them.....when he looked at the pads they were like new!! I was told they were 80% worn!Renault were definately trying to get an extra few ££ out of me.

Compared to new front pads, rears look like they're half worn when they're new.

As above...check them yourself, you should see approx. 5mm of pad material plus the backing plate if they're brand new...and would need replacing at say 2mm of pad material.

For reference, this is what they look like new...

...and this is what my rear pads looked like after 93,000 miles and a million trackdays/airfield sprints...

Those pics are really interesting! Will check rear pads when changing front discs and pads, but sounds like Renault wanting more money and probably wont need new pads! Thanks guys and girls put mind at rest!
