Blocked Phone Problem!!

Hello,
About 6 months ago I swaped a phone with another Cliosport member (my P990i for a k800i). Everything has been great with it until Monday night when it was blocked by Orange. Now they wont tell me why but they said its likely to be reported lost or stolen or Orange has requested it back for non-payment of bil by the original owner.

I've tried to contact this person but no reply as yet. What do I do? Lump it??

Had to nip to cash converters to get a cheap phone to tie me over.

Shocking :( Not much you can do unless you can get hold of the seller, perhaps the mods can help out?

it MIGHT be an insurance job and the guy thought he could get away with it.

Get in contact with the guy asap.

PM Griff, he is very helpful with this type of thing. (afaik)

I pm'd the guy on Monday night but as yet no reply. Although i dont come on here that much these days so wasn't expecting him to reply straight away. Will be phoning Orange as I still have his address details to see if we can come up with something (They seamed quite helpful).

Cheers for the replys.

I guess the phone was on contract, if so the guy didn't actually own the phone so couldn't really give it to you..? Which is why Orange have been able to bar it.

Take it to your local car boot sale or market. They will unlock it in seconds for around 10-15 quid

Whcih is HIGHLY illegal, and any Phone Flasher worth his salt would not do.

I have done this before, then I realised the reason its illegal - The phone can not be traced under the original IMEI!

I wouldnt do it anymore, and if I did, Id tell you its good for spares and repairs and worth £50.

Id do the deed and flog it on.

If however I did, I would charge over £10-£15 considering you get £10 for a SP Lock removal.

Highly illegal, depends what you call highly illegal. End of the day, there's many people who will do this for him phone shops/market stalls. His intentions are genuine so I've no issues recommending him to get it done.

wrong you can just change the IMEI sadly ;)

on phones these days you have to change the UEM chip in the phone which is near on impossible

Well none around here will entertain it.....Its even difficult to find information on how to do it on the internet because forums are too scared to talk about it.

Oh and to write a flash file takes about 15mins, unlike clearing SP Locks.

it is if you know the right forums ;)

its not illegal to replace the UEM chip, its when you write the .rpl file to the uem chip with a new IMEI on it, it becomes illegal

Changing the IMEI in any sense is illegal, even if you swap 2 of your own phones IMEI's over.

I think that shows the severity of it.
