Just wondered why everyone goes on about the belts?

Can they not be changed at home?

My uncle has always done mine and lots of other peoples in the past.

yeah there is a specific tool for different types of engines. on renault's one tool does quite a few different engine sizes.

What are they? Are they different to normal tools used for belts?

about £160 for the lot from renault, and it's common for non specialists to use cheap locking tools that are incomplete. If the timing is wrong the car will be significantly down on power.

well the sodemo settings use something "along those lines" with their cams, we gained a few horse cocking about with the cam timing on the schricks and the cat's, was quite interesting, but hard to repeat without making another tool

CAT supply an adjustable tool apparently. Not seen or used one though
