Baffles..?

Hi there,

Quick question.... How do you know if your baffles are bust in your exhaust.

Its just that my Janspeed has started sounding very tinny and crap directly underneath the car but yet still a nice note from the exit.

Any help?

it normally makes a rattle, even more so when your just setting off etc

oh, ok. Mine doesnt rattle.... just seems tinny in the centre section.

Really starting to grid my gears as the people who fitted it dont think there is a problem.

Think i might try for a new one FOC

When my baffles went on my magnex it sounded very very bad . .

Its hard to explain... its fine on idleing, but when you rev it a bit it can sound a bit "farty" if you know what i mean, but yet still a nice roar from the back.

It happened about 200 miles from new so think i will just try for a new one. Also get a hissing noise on load but ive asked about that on here before. It must be a friday afternoon/ monday morning exhaust !!

I think I know what you mean and it sounds the same as what happened to mine .. is one of the tail pipes sticking out further than the other ?? silly question but iirc Magnex told me this is a sure sign that the baffles have gone

Sorry for late reply Maz,

Strangely enough.... my right tailpipe does stickout about an inch further then the left one !!.... and they come out further when it warms up.

Any idea why this happens then? (the longer singal tailpipe bit)

Glad you mentioned that, as i have argued with many mechanics that there is a problem... and they try to shoot me down everytime.

No idea why it happens tbh .. I only know because I was asked this by Magnex when I told them that my baffles had went . .sorry I can't be of more help

That's funny you say that but i swear i can hear a hissing/whistling noise from my exhaust when giving it some, when i get it on the ramps to get my Blueflame fitted i am gonna have a look at the whole system.

Mine whistles on load at high revs, did it with the original system and still does it with blue flame. I recon it might be the cat. Have ordered a blueflame decat, hoping that will sort it.

Yeah.. ive thought it might be the cat but dont want a de-cat and thinking about a sports cat. They are not cheap and i dont want any more noise... so dont know what to do.

Argh that was my thinking behind originally saying i will have the BF cat back and sports cat, it seemed a bargain at only £206.50, i also thought it may be the cat, or a joint blowing slightly.
