Any suggestions to my problem?

  BMW M3
As much as i love my 182 for its enjoyment, i am seriously considering swapping it for a golf of cupra R etc...

Been in to garage 3 times this week already. One of which was to replace its 3rd shock at only 1 year old.

Anyway, had the car in the garage last week about a clicking i get when turning slowly and brake at the same time, and they said they found a fault with the "strut top mounts", (which have been fixed before) but said i need to get it fixed at the other garage. Go to the other garage today and they cant find any probs. Mounts are apparently fine. Even took the machanic out in the car with me after they had it all day and he even heard it and said there was def a prob. Car is going in again next week and they have this machine that detects faults via its noise...lol... not confident.

The problem is: harsh clicking noise when turning slowly and braking lightly.

Anyone have any suggestions i can make to renault before i lose the plot and sell the car?

Thanks

Ok if its only at slow parking speeds and at full lock it may possibly be the strut top mounts rubbing on top of the turrets. On mine this sounded like a creaking noise but it may be different on other cars. Usually noticed it parking or going round tight mini roundabouts.

Took mine back to get it checked out at my local Renault dealer and they said its a known problem and they cured it. Basically it involves dropping out the springs and shocks, making a mod of some kind and the re seating them. You'll notice a gap between the shock top nut and the turret when u get the car back.

Cured mine a treat and don't worry...as i said its a known thing and not serious.
Hope this helps!

Thanks Ollie,

Thats what i initially thought, but i have had the squeaking problem before and they had fixed it. They checked them again and say they are fine. I do have about 5 mm gap on the top of the turret.

What worreis be is that it only happens when "braking" and at slow speed.

Well, one last chance on wednesday to find the fault and then i'm leaving it untill something breaks. The clicking noise sounds like something is giving way, if you know what i mean lol..

Thanks for help anyway..
