Alarming discovery!

Hi Folks,

Can anyone tell me if my mk2 2001 172 has an alarm fitted as standard? or do I need to get one?

How can I test the existing alarm if there is one? without breaking into the car obviously!

use the blade of the key in a door and open the car, alarm would go off if fitted. Also, if an alarm is fitted you will probably have an additional red flashing light in the interior of the car (seperate from the one on the dials)

I found a good way to set the alarm off is to lock the car but leave the windows open.

Motion sensors on the pillars would be a giveaway too

UK models did yes. Not sure on imports, or if yours is an import though.

look for window etching on the glass m8, thats a give away, ring renault give then ur vin number and see if they can chase it up for you

I read in a thread here before that you can actually turn the sound sensitivity off, thereby allowing you to lock the car but leave the windows open. I just cant remember how its done... anyone?
