Alarm keeps going off - HELP to disconnect battery

  Renaultsport 172
Ok im in a total panic, my alarm wont stop going off. Im in a residential block of flats and its 1am. Its going mental.

Theres some water leakage on the passenger side and the floor is soaked, and could be short circuiting the alarm.

I need ot disconnect the battery to shut this thing up - but ive no idea how to do this. Can anyone point me to a guide where it says what to do to disconnect the battery, and will this stop the alarm going off?

Totally panicking here and cant find anything! s**t!

ok, the negative terminal is disconnected. When i left it the alarm went off in short rapid bursts for about 20 seconds. To me that suggests that this may not solve the problem, as it can still go off while the battery is disconnected.

  wait and see ;)
disconnect the positive terminal aswell so there is no battery connected at all, just an idea lol

Is that a joke?

Perhaps the alarm is hooked up to something other than the car battery, like a smaller battery that retains some charge in case the battery runs flat. You still wouldnt want people breaking into your car to nick stuff, so might need an alarm even if the batterys dead and they cant nick the car.

Sorry didn't mean to sound off there, just a bit panicked not to mention knackered.

Hasn't gone off in 10 minutes so fingers crossed thats done the job till I get it to a garage.

didn't bother with taking the positive connection off, just the negative one. I reckon the short bursts of alarm for 20 seconds after I disconnected could have been down to some built up charge in the circuitry.

Ill hit the sack with some earplugs anyway and worry about it in the morning! lol
