  172 PH1,Skoda oct VRS
Hi there my best mate has a 172 mk1 just put in up for sale he was hit by nipper on a scotter in the door the air bag went of out of the side of the seat and as hes excess is over £500 the kids dad agreed to pay out for a new door and spray and have the chair re stiched. All done looks fine but the serv light comes on and the air bag light as it must no there is no air bag is not there, surely there is a way he can complete the circuit so the car thinks there is a airbag?
Thanks for any help you can give

No mate there isnt - when an airbag deploys it is deployed by the airbag computer + the seatbelt pretensioner will have fired off as well. You can replace the airbag ( used one for £50 ) and will also have to replace the airbag computer as once they have fired off they are not re-programmable. These vary form £70 - £240. A seat belt pretensioner will cost you about £70 - check to see how many have gone off !! the only way to knock your warning lights off once these bits have been fitted is by the "CLIP" renault diagnostic computer - be prepared for a big spend. The alternative is try and dismantle your clocks and pull the bulbs out of the warning lights - i dont recommend this though - in the meantime as it is, your airbag system will be completely disarmed
