A few bits 'n' pieces for an imminent new arrival...

Hi all,

This is my first post so where best to start than the business end... woohoo!

I've not been on the forum before and was just wondering what basic (and maybe more advanced at a later date) mods are recommended amongst the more experienced of you and maybe the tuners if there are any of you on here...

I'll be picking up a nice shiny new Clio 182Cup in Metallic Black in a few weeks time and although I love the drive etc. etc. it will not be long before I start to tinker

As already said, I'm thinking along the lines of basic stuff to start with... exhaust, filter, maybe a little bit of porting if the need grabs me!

Any suggestions would be welcome

OK GOOD heres a run down. But also search through the forums check out GDi's demo car and others eg Loony, GaryG for some examples of modded 182's.
Basic is custom ss cat back exhaust, filter and ECU. Not much power gain maybe 5bhp but better driveability.
Coilovers (GAZ cheapest then LEDA or Bilstein both expensive) and lighter wheels (stick to 16" with ET45 offset) to improve handling.
I think the brakes are considered as more then adequate for road driving but pad and disc upgrades are available.
Engine upgrades eg. cams, headwork, throttle bodies, stand alone ECUs etc. gain bigger power but still not massive. I would enjoy the car as is before you start looking at these also expensive.
For tuning see GDI, Yozzasport, BBPT, Angel Works(BenR), KTEC (in no particular order!) they all have websites or if not will be up and running in the near future.
But keep your eyes on there forum there is alot of useful info on here.

Thanks for the reply... I've been doing a bit of reading as you suggested (only a little so far though) and that GDI car looks the n*ts! I've heard them mentioned before and they seem to be a very well respected company yes?

Who are Yozzasport and the others? What do they specialise in? KTEC I have actually heard of...

The mods you mention are things I have done with various cars before but it's been a while since I've had the opportunity to play with something that's as capable as the 182... the missus decided she wanted something nicer than the sh*tty little Clio she currently drives and has ventured into fun country with the big brother so-to-speak I have to make do with the oil-burner!

The amazing thing is, she's always been interested to some degree in the mods I've made to my cars over the years so now that hers is on the way she's asking all sorts of questions! Heh heh... I feel like the luckiest man on earth right now!
