2006, A Modding Adventure

  BMW M135i
Started the year with the old 1.2 bus, stayed standard but did have climate control which I miss now. :dapprove:

Then in march I felt the need for more speed so chopped the 1.2 in for this.

Then came Ph3 wheels.

Then I got rid of all that nasty black plastic and the 1.2 badges came out for a bit, oh and an RS grill.

Then I got hold of some xenons cheap.

Then I added a bit of noise in the shape of a K&N panel filter and removed one of the resonators. Much better .

Then it got blacker.

And a bit silver too.

Then I crashed :dapprove::(, got lucky and good lesson well learnt.

Although you might not see it but the wheel isn't sitting central in the arch. (bent wishbone)

Then I put it back together again and then decided it wasn't low enough. (lower now its settled but I can't get a good pic)

Got some of the venairsport caf ducting that someone one here sells (can remember who) removed the resonator that attaches to the airbox section at the back. Crushed the end of the ducting into the oval shape needed and used a jubilee clip to secure it. Fed the other end down behind the headlight where the original feed came from for the much cooler air there. And replaced the original filter with a K&N panel jobbie.

Can't remember the diameter of the ducting but I worked it out using pi so i'd be an exact a fit to the airbox mouth as possible.

If its made any extra power then I can't feel it but it certainly hasn't lost any and its much more free reving. And the noise it makes is awesome, its the only reason I bothered removing the resonator. I'm in love with induction noise  .
If you want to know what it sounds like the just remove the resonator and go for a drive, heatsoaks like crazy but you'll know what I mean.

nice looking car...

credit's due for doing the 'box yourself, what was wrong with it?

Input shaft bearing/oil seal failed when I was 100 miles from home, was interesting driving it home with a rather well lubricated clutch. Everytime I had to pull away I thought it wasn't going to make it.

Had to split the box to change the seal and then had to pretty much take it to pieces to get it back together again thanks to another brilliant renault design. Came apart easy enough but getting it back together much more fun. There the pics I had to remind me how it should be went I put it back, havent got any of it in about 20 pieces.
