182 Engine cover rattle

  ClioSport 182

After my first service on the 182 I noticed that there was a new vibration type "sound" coming from the front. It turned out to be the engine cover, which I guess the mechanics had to remove and put back for the service.

It was not loose by any means. So I removed it, and hey presto, no vibration sound. Great!

The $64,000 question: Does this cover serve any purpose whatsoever? apart from asthetics (if you dont like to see engine bays, of course). Does it protect from water entry or anything like that on the dist cap, etc.

Thanks,

Thanks for the confirmation. I guess I have now also gained an extra 0.0001 secs into the bargain on the 0 - 60 time with the drop in kerb weight!

mine rattled but i found out the place that was rattling and put a few lines of silicone on the back so the plastic wasnt touching the engine and it solved the problem
