172 conversion

if puttin a 172 engine into a 1.2 do you need to upgrade and have brake discs on the bac or can you stick with the dums
if you can stick to the drums, would it be advisable to put discs on anyway and would it make any difference.

I think Matt Black was running rear drums on the TT clio.

drums are fine and disks offer no better rear braking in a clio what so ever. drums come with other advantages like stronger bearings and lower cost replacements.
the only reason to upgrade is for the thicker anti roll bar

Since stock are fine why upgrade you could make a thicker ARB if you wanted.
Just think of the price of new disk say ever 50k £180 for disks and pads. Pads are £30 or less. Rear bearing don't realy were out if they do £50 for 2 new bearings.

doesnt cost that much between 2.5k - 3.0k i shold know if if you di it yourself maybe around 2k

if everything went ok then 2k would be a reasonable figure .... what was you charged in total to fit all the stuff and replace the broken gearbox mark?

£1.5k or so for the bits then asuming nothing wrong you'd want to chnage the belts and cluth so £200 there then new brakes line £200 then £100 on new decient fluid filters etc and then an induction kit so £150 or so.

You could do it for under £2k but if you find out your box is broken then you need a new box (might as well buy a new one to be sure) £480 or so. Then if theres anything worng there extra cost again.
