1.2 16v idle problem-help

2001 1.2 16v
Recently when driving my car and coming to a stop, the revs drop right down, the electrical warning light comes on and if i dont keep the revs up, it stalls, and something seems to be ticking in the engine till i start it again.
The light goes off if i keep the revs up and drive for a few mins.
I thought it might be something to do with throttle body/idle control valve but with the 1.2 16v engine, the throttle body is right behind in the inlet so cant really clean it or anything.
Any ideas on what it might be?
Want to sell the car next month and this one thing is really pee-ing me off.

Mine sounds the same..I had it on the diagnostic machine and it said the o2 sensor before the cat is fooked. The ticking noise is your carbon cannister they do that!
I changed mine and it still ticks and took it to renault and thay couldn't work it out either..I have just got used to it now.

yea i thought it was coming from the carbon cannister, just had that changed last year.
did you get your o2 sensor changed mate? how much did it cost you?

I have just got one..they are about £120 + vat from Renault but I got one from GSF
for £42 + vat (£50)
I would get it on a diagnostic machine first..ring round..some garages will pop it on for nothing..and its best to get it properly diagnosed before you waste money.

Oh yeah dont get a universal o2 sensor .(if you need one) as they need to be soldered up.

they hard to fit? i cant believe its just another thing gone wrong, i want rid of this car sooo bad

Yep basically unscrew it, disconnect the plug.. reverse to fit. you might need your warning light reset too.
