£644 for cam/aux belt change from Evans Halshaw Edinburgh

^^^Ouch that seems steep! My next service will include these belt changes but it gets 50% off because of a previous fix that they made a mess of.

Im looking to get my belts done in the next month or 2. Possibly hold off til the mot at the end of feb. Would it work out cheaper getting belts/mot at the same time or not?
Got some money set aside as well for but a guy a know who a policeman/mechanic has offered to do the aux belt. Iv heard its easier to get both done at the same time so is it worth paying extra to have both done at the same time will proof or have him do one and garage/mot do cambelt.

Id worry about that one. You want someone doing it who has the correct locking tools and knows what their doing. Theres millions of threads about folk getting it done cheap and their car has found to be losing power because its not timed up exact.
You have to take the aux belt off to do the cam so get the whole lot done including tensioners etc
Rite thanks. Hes on the verge of leaving the law and starting his own garage up but with financial situatuion hes delayed it i think. I have only had the car a few weeks and it feels all okay bar the clutch, it feels a little loose/rattley, so it shouldnt need much for the MOT. What price would poeople reckon id be looking at for MOT/Belts ?

The price to do the 172cup its much cheaper than a FF172 or 182 because they have no airconditioning. Its a couple of hundred quid cheaper for the cup belts to be changed because of that. I would say you are looking at about 300 for the cup and 500-600ish for both belts on a 182 including tensioners etc.
What does a cambelt job cost from GDAYE? Whats changed and whats the split on costs (Parts to labour)
I personally would yes, or a Renault approved one.
Seems alrite. That for both belts all inc? I mite see what they say to an mot on top of that.
