I had to have my clutch replaced under warranty last week after 7000 miles. I now have the car back and all seems to be working ok, but when I take my foot off the accelerator there is an intermittent clunking noise from somewhere underneath the car.
I dont think its clutch related, but what...
Standard "Cup" spec on the 172 was mondial blue paint (or a few in silver), front splitter, multi-spoke alloys, no spare wheel (just 2 cans of tyre foam), most had no aircon and all should have come with the door pillar "Cup 172" badges (although some apparently didnt).
Under the bonnet the...
K-tec price isnt bad at £137.50 per wheel/tyre excl. VAT. I got a new conti recently and that was the best part of £60 on its own excl. VAT.
As usual renos price is a joke.
My old MY03 PPP WRX Impreza and my cup are the most fun Ive had in a car Ive owned, my third is the VX 220 Turbo I drove on a trackday at Palmersport - awesome motor! :)
James - No I cant say I ever went on a Clang-N-Ball run but they sound like fun. What were they?
I met (and still meet) with the SMACS group (South Manchester & Cheshire Scoobies) who are quite an active group in this area.
Welcome aboard pal. I also got my cup recently, just done 1400 miles and its running sweet. Like James I had a Scooby before but got rid due to house stuff. I still go out on some of the scooby meets and although most of the cars are modified to some degree and noticeably quicker they cant...
Definately a scooby if it was me, provides superb driving thrills with plenty of scope for tasteful mods and superb track day fun.
Other cars are all good in their own way but I chose a scooby over all of them last year.
I had a similar experience when someone tried to nick my scooby. Hope everything is OK and they find your car (although whether you want it back after the experience is another matter). I hoped the Cup would be less of a target so its worrying to hear that people are targeting them too...
Saved me almost £3k on my new pre-reg cup so no complaints here. Its a good way to save money and if youre going to keep the car for a few years the extra owner wont matter much anyway when its sale time.
Ive been a member of scoobynet for a few years now as I used to own one and Ive met some really nice people locally at meets and events. Like any forum it does have its share of idiots though unfortunately.
I recently bought a pre-reg cup from Arnold Clark in Warrington, the cars are stored in perth or somewhere nearby so it would be ironic if you couldnt buy one closer to home...
As mentioned above, try autotrader or contact your local main dealer and see if they can sort you something out. You...
I got rid of my scoob earlier this year and recently bought a clio cup, yes there are a few creaks and rattles but having owned french cars in the past this is not particularly unusual. Its a great drivers car and if youre into fun driving then it doesnt come much better IMO.
I have owned VWs...
Do a search on autotrader and if there are any still available they should pull up on that. Last I heard there were some at main dealers in Birmingham, Solihull and Leicester but that was a couple of weeks ago...
Yeah Bosscup, exactly what I think. The scoob could go like a rocket (love the RB5 by the way) but you really had to push it ridiculously quick to feel as if you were getting close to the edge. Everything to a certain extent was handled for you with the 4wd, etc - the Cup is a totally...
I got it for £10.5k which seems a fairish price based on what Ive read on these forums. 7 miles on the clock which was nice and all bits and pieces present and correct. :)
Had a good run out last night and managed to cover best part of 100 miles whilst still keeping the revs below 3,500 rpm...
As the topic says, after a few delays I finally collected my pre-reg cup this afternoon. First impressions are really good, sharp turn in, excellent grip and lots of low down torque (well up to 3,500 rpm anyway :D).
Just the nightmare of the running in period to go and then I can give it...
If you still want the original 2003 MY Clio spec sheets I have them in an Excel spreadsheet taken from Renaults press release archive so I can e-mail them to you. I found them to see what my new Cup spec is going to be.
I reckon you could pick up a used lupo GTI for around £8k if you shop around. I had one of these and it was quite good fun and cheap to run (insurance could be a bit pricey though?). The alternative to that could be the Arosa Sport which is low insurance but still 10s 0-60 if I remember...
Lee as it came with the original brochure, can you confirm for me that I should be getting a front splitter, locking wheel nuts, a thatcham approved alarm/immobiliser and 2 cans of tyre weld? Im due to collect mine next week and want to make sure I get everything...
I am due to collect a new pre-reg cup next week, Ive been trying to find an "official" renault list of what kit I should be getting but obviously the cup is no longer on their website as its not a "new" car anymore.
Anyone got any ideas where I could find this information?
Ive just bought one of the new pre-reg cups, hopefully I can collect it next week. Only ever seen 1 cup on the road (not far from my home actually), but usually see the same 172 every now and again.
I know, they were dark times and my judgement was clouded by fear from the attempted thefts. I rushed into a car change, which in hindsight was an error.
Still hopefully I have made a better decision this time, thanks for the list of things to check, hopefully that should save time...
