    Goodbye Clio 182...

After months of agonising over making the decision, I finally sold my pristine condition 182 yesterday after almost 3 years of ownership from new. It has never let me down and always put a big smile on my face when hammering around. However, the right time had come to sell it. This coming...

    Shaking like a French soldier!

I've got that one too, and also the passenger side air vent below the windscreen. For the first two years of ownership of my 182 everything was ok, and then the rattles started to develop. No point trying to fix them really as it's a never ending battle. KnightAzul

    Oh no! More rattles

No idea where my head was this morning when I wrote this! Yep, it should have been a rattlesnake and not a Boa constrictor. A quick search on google confirmed that the latter indeed does not rattle. KnightAzul

    Oh no! More rattles

Anyone know how to stop the passenger side air vent on the dash from rattling, preferably without removing the dash. Mine is sounding like a boa constrictor! KnightAzul

    Drilling the dash!!

I tried to drill a hole in the windscreen plastic airvents on the dash and basically achieved a shredded hole. See pic (its the hole to the left!): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v720/KnightAzul/IMG_0129.jpg How do you drill a neat hole in this plastic? Are there special drill bits...

My 197 Test Drive (With Pics)

Wot he said! Why would you trade in if you car feels faster... For me the 197 looks horrible compared to a 182. The only reason why I would change is if the build quality is infinitely better, which I seriously doubt. KnightAzul

    Sticking to the dashboard...

I bought some industrial double sided tape which hopefully will do the trick. It's just that the dashboard plastic seems to be anti-stick for some reason. I've never had superglue fail on me before! KnightAzul

    Sticking to the dashboard...

Actually my GPS antenna is magnetic too. Knowing my luck the pad and antenna will probably oppose each other! If I could find a small sticky black metal patch (non-magnetic) that would be perfect. Failing that, my idea is to buy some double sided thick sticky tape and then apply some special...

    Sticking to the dashboard...

Anyone know of a glue which will actually stick to the dashboard plastic on a 182. I have tried superglue and a pritt-tabs and it easily pulls off. Is the plastic porous or something? I am trying to fix a GPS antenna with a metal bottom to the dashboard just under the windscreen where the...

    Clio your best car?

My 182 is not perfect and the common faults are well known. It's close to being my BEST car, but... my Sierra Sapphire 2.0L GLS takes the prize. Bullet proof and quick and I had it when I was 23 years old! KnightAzul

182 high pitched "scream" at 100mph

I had that too on my 182 and it was the hole under the wing mirror which appears to be a common problem. Easy to test, just tape over the hole with masking tape or whatever and then go back out on your private runway and see if it happens again. KnightAzul

    Original SAT-NAV antenna

Is it a difficult job to remove the underside of the roof to get at the antenna and its cabling? I suspect that it might be a major job full of possible disasters... KnightAzul

    engine cover?????????

It will rattle and make alot of noise as well as adding unnecessary weight. Don't do it! KnightAzul

    Original SAT-NAV antenna

I have the standard 182 spoiler. I was probably one of the only ones who didn't go for the "extra" large spoiler! Replacing the standard FM antenna with a dual GPS/FM roof antenna seems to be a logical move, but I can hardly find any after market ones... aside from an obscure page which I can't...

    Original SAT-NAV antenna

Anyone out there who got an original SAT-NAV system, where is the antenna installed? I am thinking to replace my original FM antenna on the roof of my 182 with an multi FM/GPS antenna and was wondering whether the original Renault SAT-NAV antenna would be just the ticket? Thx, KnightAzul

How do you drive your clio?

Got a 182... Motorway driving I usually keep it at around 140 kph or below, unless someone is pushing me in a decent car and I know there are no cameras. Then the rev-limiter in 5th is the limit. For example, wouldn't bother with a Nova, but a 3.0 L VW Toureg "my-sport-4x4-is-the-best" would...

    Out damn fly!

Ho ho ho. My GPS reported that during the journey I hit 222 Kph (138 mph)!! Of course that was on the "track" section of my journey. KnightAzul

    Out damn fly!

Just did a 1,000 km trip over the weekend and collected half the flies in the country on the front of my 182! After jet some washing, and a little scrubbing with baby-wipes (which I have found to be very effective in the past), I can't get rid of the buggers completely. They seem to have left an...

Are you proud to own a RenaultSport?

To the masses: Its just a Clio. Hard not to see the disappointment in the questioner's eyes when you give the "short" answer to the question - "What car do you have?". To the few: The 182 its one of the hotest hatches ever built. Renualt doing great in F1 doesn't change anything in my...

    Standard tweeter connectors

Does it matter which way round the + and - speaker cables are connected to the tweeters? If so, if I get it wrong will it be obvious?? KnightAzul

    Standard tweeter connectors

I guess I could use this opportunity to get some new tweeters with a "standard" connection. Are there any standard tweeters out there which slot into the 182 without having to make some DIY frame for them it sit in? KnightAzul

    Standard tweeter connectors

Anyone know where I can get hold of some standard 182 tweeter plastic connectors (the ones that plug into the side of the tweeter) and the metal shealths that go inside the connector. Reno doesn't sell them and I can't find 'em anywhere! An online shop would be just the ticket. Thx...

    Downgrading?

I have had my 182 for nearly 2 years and have started to think about "downgrading", not because it is a financial drain, but rather for something less focused and with more "style". The 182 is a great car and you won't get more fun for less money, but you do get: 1. Not the greatest build...

The loudest rattle in the world

One annoying rattle from the dash comes from the air vents (mostly from the passenger side on my 182). After removing the dash and having a good look there is fook all one can do about it. It's basically the plastic structure of the air vent which is "creaking" against itself - design intent...

    Disconnecting 182 tweeters

I think that I'll just make life easy for myself and buy some original replacements from the stealers. I'm gonna have a go at doing a "professional" job with heat shrink tubing for reconnecting the speaker cable. Being a noob at ICE ... what kind of heat shrink tubing do I need? There seems...
