Hi all
not poted an update on the car for a while. I was half tempted to shop the motor in for a megane 250/265 but opted against it for now. Next year maybe :)
Whats new?
KTEC sprint spoiler- still not sure, only seems to suit certain colours, white and red yes but not sure on yellow
New...
I may have confused ppl here. I have a 59 plate clio 200 (not the new 1.6t).
To be honest the car up until 4,000 rpm is pretty much useless and most regular motors would keep up. I was hoping for extra torque low down to give the car a sense of urgency & smoothness.
If the remap cant deliver...
Cheers for the comments guys.
Im based on Milton Keynes (south east). I had no idea that the remap by KTEC was considered that poor!!
As someone mention above I might see what RS tuning has to offer. Remapping an NA motor will never produce significant gains, its just the torque and...
Hi all,
not the first time this question has been discussed, but looking over previous comments there is no clear cut verdict.
I cant really justify getting a full system and sport cat at the moment but was looking to alter the torque curve and prevent the kangerooing effect.
The clio really...
Hi,
in typical fashion my friend has bailed on me at the last minute, leaving me with a spare ticket.
If anyone is from the milton keynes area and fancies tagging along let me know :)
Cheers,
Ben
Hi guys,
if anyone is interested in the mammoths foot washmitt let me know.
My friend is expecting a large delivery shortly so I might be able to grab us a deal.
Cheers
when mine went i physically couldnt select anything when cold. Even after 15 minutes it would struggle, you had to crunch the first gear shift and things eased slightly from there.
If things are notchy when its cold might just be the gearbox fluid but when the syncro went on mine you simply...
Hi all,
was looking for a new wash mitt to replace my naff meguiars one (third one in 6 months and no i have never put it in the washing machine).
After doing some research I came across the Mammoth's foot which is amazing!! Slightly more expensive than other alternatives but is far superior...
The car has finally had the box replaced.!!
Noticed a few things whilst driving it back
1) still struggles to engage a gear even after you have let the car warm up for a few minutes, I expected this to stop with the new box
2) the clutch is now ridiculously heavy
However gear changes feel alot...
my friend pointed out that there was no sign of copper grease being used, which is why the pads rusted into the runners.
on the upside no more sqealing :)
I had yet another surprise today.
Took the clio to my mates garage and stripped the rear brakes. The pads had rusted into the runners like the fronts had done a few months before. Because they wernt retracting when you let off the brake pedal they were binding pretty bad. On closer inspection...
I purchased the car privately in April this year. The guy I purchased it from was the owner from new the car did not exhibit and gearbox issues at the time I purchased it otherwise Id have questioned it.
It was very well looked after and the gearbox failure was not a result of heavy abuse...
Valid point i guess the overheads probably arnt much higher. Just in my head a renault is a cheap car manufactuer yet if you want anything doing to maintain it you may as well have a jag lol.
I know tyhe gearbox is massively inflated in fact all the costings are. At the end of the day final...
Get this. Just had a breakdown of the initial charge
New Gearbox £1355.20 Including vat, plus gearbox nuts x2 £16.56 including vat, - Total £1371.76 including vat.
Labour 8 hours @ £99 per hour pre vat, Total £950.40 including vat.
Total parts and labour including vat £2322.16
They have the...
I have sent renault UK many links that I have gathered over the past few weeks, even the link to this thread.
They are at the stage where nothing I say will make a difference and unless I take some legal action I cant see what else I can do. Their intial offer of 30% was a joke. I said if they...
Bmit- no idea how you managed to achieve that pretty impressive to be fair! Issue is have spoken to head of customer derbies apparently for quite some length. I have nothing else up my sleeve. I have threatened to take this further and still 65% is the best offer. The longer this takes the worse...
I agree i didnt expect renault to offer anything. However a bill of £2500 is hugely inflated so the 35% I am still expected to pay contains a large profit margin without a doubt. The dealers are a rip off and I am currently waiting on a full cost breakdown of the work so I can laugh at it...
the owner before me purchased it brand new. i knew the guy pretty well so can safely say the car was never tracked or abused.
hoping to get the car booked in soon as possible as it took me 15 minutes to get a gear this morning which made me late for work!!
The issue is the offer was made by the head of customer services in the uk so the offer is unlikely to increase. The car is a year out of warranty so I need to be kind of realistic as to what I can get.
I know the quality of the gearboxes is crap but my hands are tied unless I try and get this...
both the gearbox off ebay and the one from the dealer have a 12 month warranty.
If renault covers the whole thing so it will make any future claim(s) far more simple. Getting anything back from a small private garage will be far more tricky.
I just want gearbox put right so I can start...
When I purchase the car earlier this year it had 18k on the clock and didnt have this issue. It nearer 21k and this happens.
They have offered 65% as a very final offer and I frankly dont think they will budge anymore. Despite me quoting everything I found on all the forums they dont care...
I am waiting on a response from renault at the minute.
If they offer 75% up from 61% ill take it, as it works out I pay £600 which even I buy the new box from ebay wont be cheaper.
I will ask to take this further but its already being dealt with by the head of customer services, so not sure...
Trust me this car was never tracked still on original pads and discs. It was immaculate and still is.
The car had 1 previous owners and 17k on the clock when I got it. Its only had two services as they are ever 2 years. First with renault and second elsewhere but I dont understand why it...
Hi all,
sorry for the late reply all been away on business. I am outraged at renault, their attitude stinks and based on all your comments above it certainly isnt a rare fault.
I will try and push for higher contribution this week see what I can get but im not hopeful. I think the best...
