I can confirm that the 172 Cup actually does have the plastic hook. It says in the manual that you shouldn't hang your fuel cap and keys from it, though, as the flap hinges are too lightweight to take the extra load - it's a weight saving exercise.
Heh, I said 'flap hinges'.
I don't like the general design. The perspective of the drawing is wrong. The headlights look like they end 4 inches from the windscreen and the fogs could definitely be placed better.
I'd reckon plod isn't going to be happy with you if he pulls you and you have no insurance, whatever you're doing. Another consequence of having no insurance is a third-party claim, say from the parents of a kid you knock over on the way to the MOT station. Most multi-car accidents cost a...
Is there a gadget/feature that you miss on your current car that you had on a previous car? For me, it's the external temperature gauge, which the 200 Cup doesn't have. I think it's because it has non-electric mirrors. Is there anything you miss?
I went 172 Cup > Hawkeye Impreza WRX > Lancer EVO VIII > 200 Cup. The WRX was little quicker than the 172 Cup and I do miss the boost of the EVO, but the servicing and thought of something horrifically expensive going wrong with it eventually made me sell. The 200 Cup is brilliant, though..I'm...
I know this thread has wandered a little off topic but I thought I'd add this - My other half's 1.7 Puma was invited along to this group test, so we attended Bedford Autodrome where the knockout phase of the test was carried out. It was a great day out, the journalists liked the Puma but it had...
I left my Cup in a field (pretty much - it was used for caravan storage) under a breathable halfords cover for 3 months. It started first time when I went back to it too, which was most unexpected. The only problem I had was the cover blew off in high winds. That was 2 years ago and the car has...
I had a similar issue with my cup, grating/squeaking on full lock over bumps or when (carefully) driving onto or off a kerb. Cost £75 to fix at the dealers, they lubricated the shock absorber top mounts as far as I remember.
'Your brake pads AND Discs need changing' (same pads and discs 3000 miles later)
'Your rear brake balance adjuster has somehow been torn off and we can't even find the mounting points for it, it's £blah, do you want us to go ahead and order one?'
I was assured that the mechanics were...
Yeah, its blue...i was thinking more of what would happen in a crash (having seen the cup crashes in the bad weather) Im thinking the carbon would fly off in one bit...or shatter...i dunno. :/
Anyway, waiting for a bit before I go for it, but carbon is really tempting. I dont care if it just...
-kids in the street, what can you do? meh
3 options,
Fill and respray (it was done with the corner of a brick)
New Renault bonnet and respray
New Carbon bonnet
Any recommendations?
ta n that.
Is it possible to get a line in to a standard 172 Cup head unit? Was thinking of getting a personal MP3 player and it would be nice if I could run a wire from it into the standard stereo. Ive seen these FM transmitters that are powered from the cigarette lighter and broadcast a signal to a free...
Thanks. My sister had a nightmare with her Ka grilles. They have a moulded stud on the back of them apparently, which make them a pain in the *rse to remove and replace. Glad the Clios are more sensible.
*waits for postman*
:D
Sorry if this has been asked (1000 times) before..but I did a search first and looked at the FAQ - Do the front speaker grilles just pop off without damaging them? Im looking to fit 4 of the £25 JBL speakers mentioned on this forum in my Cup and any advice you can give would be appreciated. Ta.
I can recommend Forte, if you cant afford to go for new injectors. My MkII Golf GTi 16v felt totally refreshed after Forte treatment at 120,000 miles. Basically, the injectors are flushed through with chemicals at high pressure (and temp?).
The Forte treatment was tried before replacement of...
Yes, I heard (in this wilderness of constant sh*te) that if you run an Impreza on 95RON for any length of time, you have to reset the ECU before itll make any use of Super Unleaded/Optimax etc again. Dunno if its true, but Ive run the cup on Optimax or BP Ultimate just in case. I knew that Total...
I almost had a crash in mine, but didnt. Does that count as good news?
Slight curve on dual carriageway (70 limit, doing ~70), outside lane, some joker in a 5-Series decides to pull out from the inside lane as I draw level with their rear bumper. No mirror, no signal...just manouvre with no...
I got a CCTV camera for the front of my house, it has IR vision so it can see in the dark too...its not in-car but it was only ~£80 on www.dabs.com
If you do get CCTV, make sure you dont get mixed up between IR and PIR. The PIR ones work when there is movement, like those security halogen lights.
I had every panel on my 325i keyed down to the metal down both sides last year, its a totally gutting feeling. Ended up selling it cos I couldnt justify the cost of a respray to the standard that was required. Id post pics (if I knew how to)..in them you can still see the curls of paint attached...
The changes youre seeing now are because marketing people have discovered that educated twenty-somethings generally have no disposable income due to the fact that theyre paying off student loans. This means that everything must be marketed towards teenagers or 30-somethings....which is why...
