Hi,
I have a Clio 1.8 16V and a L plate ('94).
While driving today i noticed i could not get 3rd gear, it will not go in and seems to stop short. Also, while driving up to a round about i took my foot of the gas and the car jumped out of 5th.
Since this morning there has been some oil...
I change the oil every 5000 - 6000 miles, with good oil.... it is due a change. Not sure how older oil would have this effect.
Does anyone know the trip point for the oil pressure switch - ie the point at which the red light will come on?
I have noticed that the oil pressure drops of fast at 5000RPM. It's fine all the way up to 4500RPM, where the oil pressure increases with RPM. At 5000 it starts to drop and by 6000 it's almost at 0 bar.... I have check the oil level and have made sure it's at 95% of what it should be. The oil...
Hi,
Ive just noticed that way battery indicator lights starts flashing when the engines reaches about 4500 rpm. It started the other day and was around 5500 rpm. Is this an indication that the alternator is on its way out?
It just seems strange that all the other cars ive had - the battery...
All,
My speedo and tacho used to read as follows:
60mph = 3000rpm, 80mph = 4000rpm
For some reason it has change to:
80mph = 4250rpm, 75mph = 4000rpm
Any ideas? Comments welcome.
Also, want is the norm?
Thank you all for your comments.
Are there heavy-duty columns available?
Welding - wouldnt this remove the columns hardness/temper properties? Although this does fix the problem, Im not sure about the implications regarding MOT / insurance etc. Interesting option all the same.
I have about 30 degrees play on the stearing wheel. Basically I can move it by that amount at say 60mph and I dont change direction.
Theres no knocking or anything.
Is it likely to be the stearing rack?
Feedback welcome
The noise is def tappet noise - you can use a screw drive on the rocker clover and hear them.
Im surprised that the injectors would make a loud noise...
Rockport - I thought that the best oil to use was 15-50 fully synthetic. From what I’ve read you shouldnt start playing around with oil...
Prime....?
I put oil around the tappets, CAM etc as I thought for the first few seconds there would be no oil.
So how long or what conditions b4 the noise stops?
I have just rebuilt my engine (new valves due to timing belt snapping).
Ive replaced all the hydrualic tappets, valves, etc and I still have tappet noise. I havent done any more than 2 miles in the car last night and have not gone over 3500rpm.
Will the noise go after a time/temperature...
All,
Im putting a new belt on my Clio16V this weekend.
In the manual says use a tool to stop the crank from moving. It looks like a bar. Does anyone know the dimensions of this tool to hold/lock the crank in position?
Regards
Rossa
All,
My CAM belt snapped and I have removed the head and found it has bent most of the valves.
Do I need to replace the crankshaft bearings?
ie Main bearing set or big end set?
