hi Zeitgeist yep my hid kit works perfectly what I am trying to determine is whether the car actually REQUIRES a kit that is canbus rated ie does the car have a canbus ecu that would be upset by a hid kit that isn't canbus compliant ? that is what I am trying to establish, as other things have...
Hi Dink does the car car need can bus friendly hid units though, or does it not matter, the hid kit I bought came from china is that an indicator that it ain't good and could be noisy and causing the issue.
Cheers Chris
Hi everbody have fitted a hid kit ( AC) to my x reg phase 1 172 only to the dip beam the kit I used is not Can Bus friendly, I am having a lot of problems with ecu faults being thrown up, the scanner is saying virtually every sensor on the car has a fault, would the hid kit be causing this as is...
Will cup dampers work with non cup springs ie standard phase 1 172 springs, as I understand the cup is a little lower, is the difference within the dampers working range, how much stiffer are cup dampers, I cannot lower my car at all in fact would like to get a little more height on front, what...
if you go the electric route I have a Corsa C variable Column from a low mileage 2005 car, and a manual controller I bought from a guy that makes them in Ireland, it plugs in to the port where the speed sensor would go, and has a control you mount in the dash somewhere, and you can dial in the...
Very low efficiency, normal for a cup... Also failed it on not having compensator rod attached, even though on his paperwork it said it should't have one. Muppet MOT tester, so want the doc to go back down there, and shove it up his ar$e !!!
Hi all, yet again, another 172 cup has failed its mot due to rear brakes !!. I've found the link on here to the vosa document to give to MOT testers to give them an insight to cup rear brakes, BUT, all the links i've found don't work on the vosa site???
Any ideas where to get this doc from???
Hi all, as the title says, i want to remove the immobiliser on my 2000 172 sport. Is there a cheap and easy way, or do i need to send it away???

Had the battery in the fob tested, it's fine, must be a fault in the car, has this happened to anyone else ?, how can i disable the alarm, so if i have to unlock it with the key again, the damn thing dosen't go off, when i open the door, will be leaving to go to a motorsport event at 04.30...
It seems the Clio has another little trick up its sleeve, tried to unlock it today with remote plipper, nothing happens, even 6 inches from car, so forced to unlock with the key, the second I opened the door the alarms gone off, remote won't do anything, put the key in the ignition switch on...
Expect to see you at Werrington hill climb next year then rampantreaper, pity one of the local venues ( Mamhead ) has been lost at least for the immediate future, do you plan on sprinting, having a venue at St Eval just down the road from you could be handy.
Cheers Chris
Hi Gaz, many thanks for that excellent, will buy the cup springs been offered, all i need now is a standard airbox thats not huge money, and a sensible backbox, any offers
Cheers Chris
Have heard from someone in the motorsport fraternity, that the OZ wheels as standard PH 1 are very soft, and bend very easily if driven hard down rough pot holed roads, is this true, having just bought a PH 1 with them on, and intending to use it for navigational road rallys, will they fold up...
Don't own that one, but you might be seeing my 172 arround X Reg with JJ in the no, the cars nickname is allready JJ, only bought car Tues now residing in Plymouth, its Pearl Black, with Black OZ rims
If you want a tyre that gives at least 95% of the performance ( dry and wet ) of the very best tyres, try a set of Kuhmo Ecsta KH31s, I run them on my road rally car, and they are terrific for the money ( about 50 quid a corner ), for the money their isn't anything better, and having tried T1Rs...
H everybody, brand new here as I have only just joined the 172 club. Having purchased a Ph 1 172 ( Jan 2001 ) from flea bay, and having driven 175 miles to collect it, I find a few things I haven't been told about, firstly and mainly the thing has been lowered, as the car will be used as a...
Would deffo agree re Pagid pads, have used all sorts on road rally car ( Seat Ibiza Gti, Astra Gte, Fiesta RS 1800 ) just bought the Clio so will chuck Pagids in soonest. The Pagids do work a bit better when they have some heat in, but aren't dreadful cold. Have used Ferodo they are pretty good...
Hi all the 172/182/197 in the Clio title refers to the Metric horsepower which measures in PS ( "Pherda Starke") which is German for horsepower, so a 172 is 172 PS which equates to 166 Brake horse power under the british system, Renault have used this to sort of massage the figures for UK also...
