Many people still fit HIDs into reflector headlamps and have no issues at all, others who decide not to fit osram night breakers. The Night breakers are nice but not a patch on a real HID kit.
Nathan
Why not use RGB strips, and a controller. This way you can pick and choose from thousands of colours and turn them on or off remotly. We've done loads like this.
I wouldnt recommend converting your main beam to Xenon HID. Simply because the technology behind igniting the bulb, it takes roughly 10 seconds for the average xenon hid kit to ignite and reach full brightness. When you flash someone thwe ballast and bulb only get the power for a split second...
Although we sell thousands of LEDs for this very purpose, I don't like the light that the LEDs give off when being used for interior. For external use they're great, really bright crisp white light. However why would you want such light in the interior? Footwells maybe but any over head lighting...
The chicken & the egg come in in regards to the grey area surrounding the legalities of aftermarket HID's. For example, it's said that you shouldn't beable to pass an MOT with aftermarket HID's in non-projector headlamps, aswell as the other legal must haves, yet cars with aftermarket HID's in...
Ahah. Touché, you have a point, sort of.
Yes, we're a HID supplier (amongst other bits), so we'll always add a positive input to a debate about anything on the subject of legalities etc, but on the flipside, we'll always speak our minds and give an honest opinion, good or bad.
But yeah, on the...
It's illegal to buy a Ferrari and do 200mph on a UK road in it, but theres nothing to stop you doing it. Like I said, it's very much a chicken vs. egg debate, but that's just my personal opinion on the matter.
Sean.
Theres always going to be a grey area regarding the legalities regarding HID's, theres arguments etc saying that factory fitted Xenons are debatable now, and that Xenons should be banned alltogether. It's a chicken vs. egg debate, always has been and always will be. We've been dealing in HID's...
Ahhhh, gottcha.
What you need to do, using James' photo as reference, see the rubber bung thats holding all the wires together? - You need to take a stanley knife/blade, and very carefully cut that away, so that all of the wires are individual, rather than bundled together, and then you'll...
We did a 230 F1 Team Megane a few months back, had to change the ballast in that for him, and it was an absolute pig. Had the whole front of the car off, the front wheels, arch liner etc, all to get the headlamps out and replace the ballasts.
You can access the bulbs via the flap in the arch...
It sounds like you'll need aftermarket bulb holders to enable the bulb to be fitted into your Clio, from how you've explained it. Search on eBay for bulb holders for a Ph2 Clio, and see if it brings back any search results.
As the gent's above have said, it sounds like your ballast has given up. It's a bit of a nightmare to get to, but echoing what Mad Max said, it'll be a slim, silver box which will be fastened to the underneath of your headlight casing by 3-4 torx bits.
You'll need to replace it with the same...
We'd suggest swapping the bulbs over, not the ballast. The standard Renault ballasts are a nightmare to get to (usually hidden underneath the headlamp surround etc).
Pull the bulbs out, swap them over, see if the culprit one fires up. It's not a fantastic job, but it'll be a lot easier than...
You need a single kit for your car, which means, echoing what others have already said, you wont beable to have xenons that don't warm up first, as it's not a high/low kit - your dipped & main beams are on seperate bulbs.
We have many people ask us what's best and our opinion is just simple a...
There's a little access panel in the lining of the wheel arch, normally accessed by removing the wheel, but you can sometimes create just enough space if you put the wheels on full lock to the opposite side. It's a little tricky but definitely much better than stripping the front of the car to...
Yeah, absolutely fine fella. As Simon said, foglights arn't great as standard, so people who replace their foglight bulbs with a set of LED's are going for styling more than practicality. Having said that, the LED's are far brighter than Halogen, and clearer, so what little visibility you have...
Yeah, H11 fitment for 182's. We've just supplied a set of our LED fogs to a lad called Kris on here, he may have possible posted some photos up, they banish the standard Halogen look and are 'Ice White'. Safe enough to use everyday, not too over the top either, like HID's would be.
If you split the rubber bung, the one that holds the wires together on the kit, you can feed each wire through seperately, meaning no cutting is needed.
