If you torque your ptfe gasket down to the same as the standard gasket it shouldn't leak and if anything will give you a better seal... try it as it's free then maybe order a new MAP.
And when the air is going through more slowly they work better?
and to reduce overall heat build up in the plenum they work better?
plus they last god knows how much longer and seal better than standard....
Fred is right..
Hi;
Need a bit of advice; my mates 1.2 (mk2 - 53 plate) is having intermittent starting fault - we thought was the TDC sensor, changed it, but still is kicking in from time to time.
To help diagnose I have downloaded PCMSCAN and a have OBD2 Port Lead which I use on my Golf so I know it...
Hi All;
My mate has got a 1.2 8v Mk2 Clio for his first car and we are just trying to make it sound a little bit better without spending a lot. I indicated to him that a simple panel filter would help this, free up a tad of air and wouldn't cost much at all. It could probably do with a...
Fact is that the PTFE will offer a better seal and will last longer.
But yes you can re-use the originals in many cases even though this is not usually recommended.
PTFE gaskets are worth doing if you want a well sealing, reuseable gasket, that can reduce inlet temps and will never be effected by oil/petrol etc. A lot of people on here run them with positive results.
Hi;
Can anybody tell me if the inlet manifold / setup is different on the 197 compared to the 200? Also if they are, are the gaskets the same?
:)
Cheers
PTFE gaskets are reuseable - part of the joy/investment :)
OEM ones are supposed to be replaced, but people do report they have replaced it without any noticeable issues.
It is recommended to fit new gaskets whenever you do this job as the standard ones have tendancy to leak after being disturbed.
If you want properly reuseable gaskets you should opt for the PTFE ones which I can supply you with - no problem just supplying the plenum on its own if that is all...
Shem had to pester you just to let him setup the TPS lol
you cant even be ar5ed to let other people work on ur car mate

Brand new cars tend to have no rattles, no knocks, no leaks and luxuries such as remote central locking that...
Hi;
You may as well change the gaskets whilst you are there to a a set of PTFE thermal intake gaskets - these replace the standard gaskets but dont allow heat transfer from the engine to the inlet manifold meaning cooler inlet temps. Also they are reuseable and wont deteroriate like the...
