Took the 172 out for a good blast and for some reason the poxy exhaust decided it no longer wanted to be part of the car.
Centre bracket rubber gave way, then the rear hanger detatched itself from the back box which in turn left the back box dangling down and banging about like pornstars balls...
Another option would be to hand it to Jezza, the hamster, and captain slow and see what they can do for 2 grand. They would probably nail a sheet of ply underneath, paint it in some garish colour and fit it with some sort of methane powered propulsion system:clown:
Well said.
Ive owned 6 subarus in the past and have spent so much money on them its stupid. But now after buying the 172 and deciding to modify it on a budget im loving it and having a whole shitload of fun !
Your always going to get a difference of opinion on what to splash your cash on but its...
Ok, spent a couple of hours stripping the rear of the 172 today, and once id finished removing all the trim i started on the shitty bituminious sound deadening.
After piling all of it together (the sound deadening) i tossed it onto a pile of old lead i had and drove off to the local scrappy...
"Tints are pointless really"
.So are silly little ariels, and carbon fibre bits, and chavvy exhausts, and nurboring stickers, and and and, get what YOU want, not what others suggest !
Ive got tints on my titanium, although they were already fitted when i got the car. i love em, and if you shop around you can get them done for about £120.
Obviously there are people who will try and talk you out of it.... but its your motor and you need to make up your own mind.
Its alright...
I need the front bumper because the one on mine has had a scrape at some time and i doubt it would be repairable, im near Derby if that helps, or if anyone knows of a renault breakers near me that would be a help too.
Cheers Stevo, i had a feeling the lights would be different. good news on the bootlid though. Im glad the bumper wont fit cos i prefer the look of the p1
Can anyone tell me if a 182 front bumper will be a straight swap on a phase1 172, also will a 182 tailgate fit straight onto a p1 172, only reason im asking is i cant find a p1 172 bumper and tailgate locally.
Although if anyone has a p1 172 front bumper or tailgate in titanium id be interested ;)
Im doing a similar thing at the minute, got myself a "tatty" phase1 172 needs a front bumper and tailgate, but on the plus side its had a new engine recently. Ive just done the front and rear brakes and a couple of other small jobs but im already loving it, going to start stripping it very soon...
I will probly tell them, even though they are only cosmetic mods.
Ill probly be lowering it as well shortly, so may as well declare that at the same time
I was thinking of stripping out all the non essentials from my phase1 (purely to see what the difference is) but if i like it stripped out will it be classed as "modified" by the insurance, will it need to be declared?
Has anyone any experience on this, or do i just strip it all out now and...
Just got myself a standard phase1 172 and the springs need replacing (amongst other things)
Im thinking of lowering it by about 25/30mm i dont want it too low so i thought this would be about right but opinions are welcome.
Ive also just ordered rear discs bearings abs ring pads etc and will be...
ok i got it reasonably cheep on ebay and it needs a few bits n bobs sorting out but thats all part of the fun, quite impressed with it so far although ive only driven it a couple of times as its needing a wheel bearing:rolleyes:
the shopping list so far is: springs all round...
