    The life of... SharkyUK's Trophy

Top man ^^ well, whatever doesn't fit in the boot of the 5-touring, we may need to rely on you :-) No worries... we may need to figure out a solution that works around my hectic travel and family life, but like you, I just want to get on with my project, so if I can help someone else move on...

    Ph1 172 Speedo/RPM Pulse

Hi All, I'm working on putting a Honda K20 engine into my Ph1 172 chassis. The engine is in, but I'm working on the wiring loom. Currently I'm trying to convert the Honda RPM and speedo pulse to something I can use with the OEM Renault clocks. Does anyone happen to know the pulse rates for...

Office VPN - Viewing other machines

No, don't worry about the '/32', a '/32' is a total mask, but to simplify, it's used to represent a single IP address, e.g. the IP address of your client on the VPN. I assume, 192.168.1.101 is your IP address on the remote network? How have you set this? Your router should be able to route...

Office VPN - Viewing other machines

Yes, it's exactly because the networks are the same subnet. In the most basic sense, your computer has a 'routing table', i.e. 'which device do I use to connect to a given network'. When you connect to a VPN, your computer creates a VPN interface and sets up a route so that all traffic to the...

    rear main sealing, a guide?

Just a quick follow up on this, do you need to use sealant on the crank case cover too? There's a gasket in my kit, but want to make sure I'm not going to miss anything :-)

    Internet with no landline?

I've got BT Infinity, highly recommend it. You have to have a phone line, but doesn't mean you have to plug a phone into it! If Infinity is not in your area then you're stuck with ADSL. If you're not in a cable area, you don't have much other choice. Tethering, whilst it may work, will likely...

Difference between 172 and 182 engine

    Guessing a typo above... 172 is 4-1, 182 is 4-2-1.

Difference between 172 and 182 engine

Some people in the past have said that the crank is slightly different, but I've not come across any differences that I've noticed.

Difference between 172 and 182 engine

Correct, the exhaust manifold is different between the 172 and 182. On the 172 you'll have a 4-1, and on the 182 you'll have a 4-2-1.

Spacers for track car. What's max for rear and front?

At ET37 I would be careful... as I said, I am at ET43 with 20mm and mine rub on the track. Then again, I could stiffen things up and may be fine, but I wouldn't go ANOTHER 6mm out.

Spacers for track car. What's max for rear and front?

Not had it measured accurately, but would expect -2ish.

Spacers for track car. What's max for rear and front?

+1 on NorthloopCup I run 20mm on the front, and it's too wide. I need to reduce this to 15mm to stop it from scrubbing when cornering really hard, although I suspect I could fix that with stiffer springs. That's on ET43 2118's. On the back I run 15mm with no problems, that's with cambered stub...

    Engine Rebuild Project (260hp/ton)

Time for a bit of an update; spent this weekend starting the rebuild of the bottom end. Managed to get the main bearings, main cap studs, main caps, the crank, rods, and pistons in. Here's how it started... Some preparation bits... Main cap studs installed with bearings... New oil...

    Megane Sport 225 Head

In your advert you state that you don't need the head for the Clio conversion. I was under the impression that it was exactly what you were needing. The head, pistons and rods, and just re-use the Clio block so it mounts to the gearbox as normal. Unless you're doing some other conversion?
