Thought I'd just update to let you all know what the issue was:
The 2 bolts attaching the ball joint to the suspension arm had worked themselves loose. Nipped them up and it's all good again! That could have been interesting if they had failed at 90mph booting it down the A38 :dapprove...
Rods are cheap if you go repro, (£10 ish iirc) OE ones are about £25. Be sure to check the steering rack housing for the make of rack before you buy them though, I think there are around 4 different types.
Hmmmmm. I replaced the n/s lower ball about 2 months joint because if failed the MOT for excessive play (although I think they were BSing me because it seemed fine + they wanted £250 to change it because they were gonna do the suspension arm and driveshaft - jokers!).
It was a dodgy repro. part...
I got a similar thing goin on bud. I'm gonna have a crack at replacing the track rods themselves (there is a balljoint on there connecting them directly to the steering rack). Could be the cause of your issues I spose, although I'm waiting on other users inputs before I go messing around with my...
Yeah I had a look at the ARB - it looks intact, no bends and doesnt seem to be fouling on anything. The ARB bushes however are totally shot. Complete splits, on both, but I doubt very much whether f*cked bushes would have the above affects. Thats a **** of a job anyway so I'm leaving it to the...
Right - have issues with my Clio II 1.2 16v:
Play @ 3 and 9 on both front wheels (requires some firm pressure though)
Swerves right under hard braking, but will swerve left under acceleration immediately afterwards - feedback felt through steering wheel.
a single knock is heard when...

My boot build thread, main priority was to be able to put back to standard. This just lifts out so I can sell on when I chop the car in ;)
Having had an embarassing moment having to call the RAC out the other week only to discover I'd forgotten to put the tow eye back in the car after doing my boot build I decided to look into the 'race' type ones.
I've seen the group by thread on here, but since they've changed to the bigger ring...
Sounds like a bad connection or earth, I have non genuine loom & its faultless but fitted myself, literally a 5 minute job with the dash out.
I'd take it back to who fitted it & get them to check, or pop the dash top off & trace the loom checking each connection, either that or the stalk is...
Cheers dude!!
Havn't finished it yet, but getting one of the grills shown above to protect it.
Really need to get round to it now as I've just had to use the back seats to ferry stuff around over Christmas!
Haha thanks, although literally just sketches, I did design at school & was going to go to Uni to study it until a slight change of direction, thanks though! :)
Thinking this for the sub, not figured out the amp yet, not a fan of perspex & don't really want to cover it up so you can't see it, hmmm....
S6 EMY - if only you were closer could sort something out! Haha!
Think I've sorted the grills to cover the amp & sub now.
Remainder of carpet & the old sub box (now re-covered) for sale;

Thanks for the +ive comments!
I ran the extra boot light wiring under the isofix bar so it's totally hidden even if you take the build out, wanted it to look like it was there from the factory.
That mesh looks pretty good actually, will have a look for something similar, thanks.
Fancied sorting my boot out as the kit from the Golf took up to much space in the small Clio.
As it was;
Quick sketch of what I wanted;
The plan was I wanted to maintain as much boot space as possible & for it too look as OEM as possible, carpet colour & build quality etc. But as I don't...
Here's a litte write up I did (apologies, VW not RS)...
First I picked up a can of Halfords finest brake caliper (HT) paint. Hammerite Smooth is just as good & often available in more colours, not to mention cheaper!
Pop the car up on axel stands ( I did one side at a time ) & drop the...
Pick up the interior light connection lower down, it runs up one of the A pillars, not sure which side though. Then just splice into it (properly) & run the wire with through the normal route in the gap between door & body through to the handle. Best bet is to see if you can squeeze the wire...
In the user manual, but ignition off, turn from off/auto on the stalk to sidelights to off/auto to sides & you should hear a beep, then put back to auto & you're done.
