    Ph1 Flame Red 172

thats very foolish of you Chris, I managed to fit Koni's to my Mk1 gti back in the day but i decided to stick the little badge just above the rear bumper, she spotted that and went mental!, i learnt from it though. I even managed to fit a Supercharger to my MK3 VR6 Highline a few years back...

sunny sn3800 tyres any good for the money?

Who said anything about spending 200 quid for two tyres? There are plenty of better options out there for a few more quid than the Woo Wungs.

sunny sn3800 tyres any good for the money?

Hankook are hardly a budget brand anymore!, The V12 Evo is comparable price wise with some of the top end brands, it got a good reputation and has out performed some of the big names in testing hence why its price has crept up. And thats why ive just ordered 4 for my Corrado Vr6..

You'll never guess what I've bought!

Nice one John. I knew it was a quick one just by driving it!. Makes me realise that the Corrado Vr6 ive just bought is no quicker and thats remapped by AMD to 201bhp and 190lb/ft. She does clean up nicely doesnt she:cool: Oh and is that the two bucket method i see:rasp:

Nice Car:D. Dont worry John, weather is pretty pants down here too, i wanted to get out on the Corrado for a couple of hours between going back to work but currently P'ing down. And it still looks fairly clean even after those 500 miles!

    mk2 ph1 rsi...

Ha Ha about the unadventurous bit, I think ive had more variety of cars and done more engine conversions than most in my 37 years.. Im just being realistic, go for it if you really think its worth it and you can justify not just the throttle body conversion cost but everything that goes with...

    mk2 ph1 rsi...

And i bet the quote wont be any different for a 1.6 16v with all the mods on it and throttle bodies. Who is your present insurance with?, im surprised they will insure you on a modified 1.6 16v but not a 172. Reality is that insurance is expensive for young drivers with little experience for a...

    mk2 ph1 rsi...

Fair enough re: the bank think, your profile says unemployed though.. And im looking at the green Clio youve just posted pictures of,its not the best of examples to throw money into imho... I just dont see the point of spending 2k on throttle bodies when the rest of the car will also need...

    mk2 ph1 rsi...

Who said it didnt? Sorry, my bad but when somoeone is driving round in what id call a fairly tired looking 1.6 Mk2 Clio and has mentioned before in their posts that they cant do anymore on the car due to lack of funds i thought the fact that it will cost you 2k for itbs might be an issue....

    mk2 ph1 rsi...

Ok fine,Hows about instead of spending in excess of 1500 quid to buy and map ITB's why bother on a 1.6?, just buy a 172. Also what about your insurance?, im sure youve already told them about your mods?, your 21 right?, what about your insurance quote?,what about brakes and suspension to handle...

    steering wobble

Are the spacers hubcenrtric? Id guess not, if not then thats your problem, the wheels arent sitting on the actual hubs just the shoulders of the wheel bolts so are not sitting 'square' on the hub.. Cheap shitty spacers do this, buy some hubcentric ones or ditch the things....

New Type Of Coilovers Just Arrived - Testing Ahead!

How much suspension travel does the car have? Ie did the owner request for it to be low and therefore sitting on the bumpstops?, i dont doubt i could get my car to ride like a piece of shite if it was sitting on the bumpstops, As it is it rides better than the oem Ph1 172 stuff i removed so i...

New Type Of Coilovers Just Arrived - Testing Ahead!

No i just find it funny that people have a very critical opinionated outlook on something they've never even seen or evaluated!. I wouldn't comment on AST or H&R coilovers without having tried tried them on a Clio for that very reason. Yes these are cheap and very very similar to more expensive...

Erm......no. Im not going to strip down my coilovers to show you lot pictures, im not the sort of guy to spend hours taking photo's making a step by step guide of what i do when i work, i just got on with it, it was about -3'C and snow was still on the ground!. Its not rocket science what ive...

New Type Of Coilovers Just Arrived - Testing Ahead!

As ive already said, if you want to fit the top spring seat of the coilovers which is about 1 inch diameter = ie all of the cars weight concentrated on approx 1 sqr inch which then fits on the inside radius of the bearing where none of the actual bearings are then go for it. All your doing is...

They're a bit more than that mate.... Rears are more like 1/2 hour, Fronts i removed the spot welded large strut washer from the top spring cup to spread the load onto the top mount bearing otherwise all the strut load is not on the bearing races withrth new smaller coilover top spring seat...

Cant bolt the ball joint back on .. any tips?

Hacksaw/grinder to get a slot across the top of it and a bloody large flathead screwdriver usually works for me, either that or a carefully place set of vice grips around the bolt..
