Is there even a nut in that one? There isn't on mine, just make sure to loosen the 10mm bolts that hold the upper inlet manifold on, they hold the fuel rail guard on at the same time;)
Took the upper engine mount off earlier and, most likely through my own fault, stripped the thread on one of the bolt holes in the upper cam cover when refitting as I didn't pull the engine forward enough. Have the other 2 bolts holding it up overnight until I head to the local engineering...
What does it do?
And more importantly, do I need it?
Took most of my aircon, bar the compressor tonight, and noticed the carbon canister while the bumper was off...can I get rid of it before putting the bumper back on in the morning?
Another order came from k-tec a week or two ago..
CL RC5+ pads for front and rear, with new OEM rear discs and bearings, and a centre and rear exhaust hanger.
Rear discs were as good as welded on, but sorted them with an angle grinder:D
Bit of a last minute decision, but done another...
I wish to remove my aircon pump, but keep my PAS pump, without being bent over by renault for brand new 172 cup brackets and an alternator.
I have been searching high and low for a reasonably priced 172 cup aux setup but not having much luck, and I know you can rid the car of aircon using...
Fitted a set of coilovers recently, and ever sice I put them on the car, I get a knocking noise from the rear of the car when the springs compress after a dip or bump in the road.
The rears are about halfway on the height adjusting collars, nowhere near decked.
Have been under the car a number...
You're not trying hard enough:D
Get a big breaker bar or put a big bar over the end of your ratchet to make your lever bigger, and one swift yank to free it of the rubber should let you loosen it.
Alternatively get a lend of an impact wrench:D
Haven't updated this in a while...
Got the camber and alignment set, it was miles out and probably not safe to drive...
The coilovers seem to have settled a bit, it's sitting nicely now. Also got my hands on the centrecaps for the turini's and a cup towing eye...
I can see one huge benefit of having a 182 manifold.....it will only take about 20 minutes work to put the cat in come MOT time....otherwise I wouldn't bother unless I was worried about the extra few bhp having an impact on my fun, or unless I had money to burn.
There's feck all weight over the back tyres, and with the weight shifting to the front under hard braking the back end seems even lighter making it wiggle about. Get 3 big lads to sit in the back, or throw some bricks in the boot if it bothers you
Can anyone tell me offhand what the distance from the ground to the centre of the wheel arch is on a 172 with eibach sportlines?
Also, please specify if its the front drivers side or passenger side you've measured;)
Thanks
Well they're in, took about 2.5 hours to fit, and spent the other 1.5 hours messing with the heights. I managed to get the fronts matched to within 1/16th of an inch of each other, and the same for the rears, although it looks like the rear could do with being lowered another small bit in the...
Seeing as I've had the car over a month now, I think it's time for the obligatory project thread:D
I bought this car off a member on here, ianeire for those that know him, who also bought the car off another member on here some time ago. Darren16v I think Ian said his name was.
Ever since...
Ordered a set of these myself this morning, going by teh feedback they're getting they should be half decent
Coilover springs are generally universal, once you know the size you're looking for you can buy different rated springs in any motorsports supply shop i.e. demon tweeks etc.
Was just thinking the very same thing!
There seems to be absolutely no run-off in the event that you run out of grip/talent.
Has anyone ever had an accident there?
