I got this weird accelerating problem just randomly the other day. When I'm driving the car seems to struggle to accelerate and shakes as if it is going to stall but doesn't. When I was driving the other day my oil light flashed on and off a few times but I got a service just a month ago so a...
Its now doing the exact same thing it did before I sent it away to get fixed, its now on power mode but there is no sound. Its a Juice amp and an Audiobahn subwoofer.
I just got my amp back yesterday and since I missed it so much I thought ad crank the sub pretty loud (stupid, I know). The sub cut out and the amp is on protection mode, all cabling seems fine as does the fuse. Do you think the amp is totally fucked?
Cheers
Yeh its best to get a new headunit, some arent that expensive, I got mine for £45. Its not the best but its got all I need, ipod connections, RCAs for amp etc
Sorry for double post but it wouldnt let me edit. I messed about with the speaker wiring from the amp to the sub and now I'm getting the power light on but no sound. This did happen ages ago and it turned out to be the way I wired it inside but I fixed it and it was working after that. Any more...
Cheers for the reply man, took the RCA leads out and the rhythmic thumping still occured so I'll try reconnecting the wires and al borrow another sub. The annoying thing is I cant stop it though cos it still thumps with no music on.
JVC
My problem is similar but not quite the same as that thread, there is no buzzing noise and there isnt any noise coming from the 6x9s, the sub just keeps outputting bass every few seconds.
I'll try wiggling the RCAs see if that helps but I tried turning the bass down in the HU and the bass...
Thanks for the reply guys, I checked the connections on the amp and the sub and they seem fine. I checked the earth connection too and that looked fine as well. Its kinda weird how it would happen just randomly though. I did notice that when I turn the ignition on, the sub is in protection mode...
My sub has been working fine since I installed it but all of a sudden today it emits bass every second or so even when there is no music playing and when music is playing its still the constant thump. I dunno if I described it very well lol but anyone any ideas whats up?
Cheers
It sounds stupid I know but pull your head unit out and make sure all connections are secure as I has a similar problem and it turned out to be a dodgy connection to my head unit that caused the car not to start.
Its looking brilliant man, does anyone know how much it costs roughly to get it all cc'd? I know you can do it yourself but I would prefer taking it somewhere.
Cheers
Its 500W max and its 4ohms when in bridged mode. At the moment I am only holding the battery cable in place and and I'm getting a bit of bass from the sub but its quite quiet, do you think it should be fine if I screw the cable down?
Cheers
Just wondering, if only the power light comes on an amp does this mean it is connected up correctly?
Also is 10G wiring suitable for a 500W amp with a 500W (RMS) sub?
Cheers
Audiobahn arent the best of makes tbh, I have an audiobahn sub and have had lots of problems with it and its pretty expensive for the quality of it. Try some of these ones http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/category_m-5-34-x-7-34-6-34-x-8-34-speakers_c-999.htm
It might not be this but this is what it turned out to be on mine and I had a similar problem. If you have got an aftermarket head unit, take it out and make sure all of the wires connected to it are secure. Turns out I had a dodgy connection on one wire which caused my car not to start.
Hi everyone, I went out to start my car the other day and just randomly is wouldnt even turn over:dapprove:
The immobiliser light goes off and all the lights etc come on fine so I dont think it is the immobiliser or the battery. I also got someone to give me a jump start but that never helped...
Thanks for the reply man. I fitted the sub into the enclosure myself, there are two holes in the enclosure and wiring already fitted to the other side of the holes so I dont think I can do some of the ways suggested. Here is the way I done it, I dont know if its right or not but it sounded ok...
I tried changing all the different amp settings etc and I only found that I dont hear anything when the settings are medium but when all up full I can hear the bass but it is very very quiet.
That could maybe be the problem, what would cause it to do that? If its the postive connected to the negative and the negative to positive then its not that, I have triple checked them.
Thanks a lot, al give that ago and yeh I had a mate put his RCA lead from his car to mine so it was coming from his head unit but still powered etc from mine and still got no joy.
The head unit is a JVC KD-G343, the pre-outs and inputs should be fine, I have the rca lead going from the back of the head unit into the amp. I am not using the high level input on the amp as I am only wanting bass so its just the low one I'm using. Yeh I tried messing about with the settings...
Its pretty easy to do mate, if you have a 5door then just twist the speaker grill to the left I think it is or if its a 3 door the grill is attached to another bit thats attached to the panel. Just pull it off then unscrew and remove the speaker. The way I did mine was I cut the speaker wiring...
It wouldnt let me edit my last post for some reason but yeh when I put my ear to it its just really quiet bass coming from the sub, I am using 10G cables. I've tried not bridging the connection but it doesnt make any difference. Thanks again for the replies.
